St. Elmo's fire

 

聖艾摩之火，是1985年的〈七個畢業生〉電影主題曲（註），有關 St. Elmo's Fire，這是一種自古以來就常在航海時被海員觀察到的自然現象，經常發生於雷雨中，在如船隻桅杆頂端之類的尖狀物上，產生如火燄般的藍白色閃光，據悉～聖艾爾摩之火，也會出現在羊牛等牲畜的角尖，或任何尖銳物體上……聖艾爾摩之火的成因是一種電暈放電現象，這在大雷雨中很常見，超越了空氣的擊穿電壓，使得空氣成為了導體，並在導電的過程中放出強光……雖然名稱中有「火」這個字，但其實一點都不熱。

註：電影〈St. Elmo’s Fire〉台灣翻譯成〈七個畢業生〉，這是加拿大籍作曲家音樂製作人 David Foster 所作的第一部電影配樂……電影描述七位大學即將畢業的好友們的成長故事，這七位好朋友來自不同的背景，在畢業前各自面臨了自己的人生與情感抉擇……St. Elmo's Fire 也被用來象徵希望、守護或者神秘的力量，象徵～獻給即將進入人生賽道的畢業生們，希望他們能夠在職場上找到自己，摸索到未來的方向……。

以逃避來承認

 

〈 Take it on the run 〉是快速馬車合唱團的歌曲，也是我喜歡 REO Speedwagon的第五首歌曲，就如《在我的夢裡》文中所言……也利用這次購買約翰丹佛的歌曲時，順便購入，是Apple Music中收錄的第三首REO Speedwagon合唱團曲，另外，本篇中英文歌詞與說明，皆引用摘錄自《安德森的音樂倉庫》之 〈Take it on the run〉，特此申明。

 

 

關於" Keep on loving you "

 

 

REO Speedwagon 為一組成於 1967 年的硬式搖滾樂團，在 80 年代以前，他們並未大紅大紫。1980 那一年，該團開始籌備新專輯的錄製，五位團員在那段時間都經歷了人生的低潮期，包括離婚等許多的不順遂。有一天，團長兼主唱 Kevin Cronin 發現妻子背地裡和別的男人偷情的事實，傷心之餘，他卻決定原諒妻子，寫下" Keep on loving you 繼續愛你 "這首歌向愛妻表明心意。當凱文首度在大家面前唱出這首抒情歌曲，鍵盤手 Neal Doughty 不禁皺了眉頭，心想這和樂團一貫的硬搖滾樂風完全不同，死忠歌迷可會買帳？孰料，主奏吉他手 Gary Richrath 卻在這時掄起吉他，跟著 Kevin Cronin 的曲子配上電吉他的部份，兩人原本不同的演奏風格此刻卻如水乳交融，感覺棒極了！1980 年 12月，專輯《 Hi Infidelity 高度失真 》發行，首支單曲" Keep on loving you "推出後在全美各電台被強力放送，成為該團第一首冠軍曲，也為 80 年代許多硬式搖滾團體相繼以 Power Ballad 搖滾抒情曲在排行榜上攻城掠地的風潮揭開了序幕。

 

 

關於" Take it on the run “

 

 

團長 Kevin Cronin 發現了妻子的背叛，卻決定原諒她。主奏吉他手 Gary Richrath 在當時也經歷了婚姻關係的挫折，而且情況可能更糟。於是他寫了另一首歌" Take it on the run "，抒發自己的情緒，也可說是對" Keep on loving you "的回應。他回憶道：「那時，我們兩個都遇到了婚姻的難題。有一晚我突然醒來，半睡半醒之間，我百無聊賴的坐著看電視，電視正播著一齣連續劇。我輕撥著吉他，心想： 老天！這群人的關係比我的處境更糟糕。我唱著歌，內容是關於男女關係的決裂和八卦耳語的效應，那和我目前的人生何其相似！」" Take it on the run "成為專輯中第二首發行的單曲，在排行榜上最高名次為第五名。連同" Keep on loving you "這二首暢銷單曲，它們不斷刺激專輯唱片的銷售，最終專輯共賣出九百萬張。" Take it on the run "的中文歌名翻譯讓老安考慮了許久，英文其實很簡單，若以忠於原文、不過度美化為前提，卻很難找到合適的譯名。" 在逃避中承認了一切 “的譯名老安自己仍不滿意，只能自嘆疏才淺學，期盼各界賢達不吝賜教。
